After-School Classes

Eton School’s After-School Classes are designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and personal growth beyond the regular school day. Our program offers a variety of engaging opportunities in STEM, the arts, fitness, and other enriching activities that encourage students to explore new interests, develop new skills, and build confidence. By participating in these classes, students benefit from a balanced blend of learning and fun in a supportive environment. They discover hidden talents, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and form lasting friendships while fostering a love of learning beyond the classroom.
After-School Classes are offered three times a year: Fall (September-December); Winter (January-March); and Spring (April-May)

This Little Coders class offers young children the perfect opportunity to develop their computational thinking skills, create their first programs, and have fun with their friends! The curriculum is tailored specifically for early readers, taking into consideration their cognitive abilities and attention spans, which are typically found in children aged 5 to 7. The class utilizes age-appropriate online tools, including Lightbot, Kodable, and Scratch, to introduce fundamental coding skills. Beginner students learn essential coding concepts such as Loops and Conditions. Through practice, they apply these concepts to build simple projects, including games, stories, and even animated characters. Returning and experienced students encounter new challenges that enable them to take their coding knowledge to the next level.

Amazing Athletes P.E. is a progressive skill and game-based sports program that uniquely combines team-based fitness challenges and strength training. A game-based sports program designed to engage students in active wellness through sports-specific training, physical fitness challenges, and interactive lessons. Each week, students focus on 1 of 8 sports, learning skills & practicing with game play in a non-competitive environment.

Amazing Athletes work with each student to meet them where they are in their physical ability and help them strive for their personal best, so that each athlete has the confidence to learn and play. They utilize team-based fitness challenges to highlight the importance of physical fitness, stretching, cardiovascular exercise, and conditioning activities for overall health and well-being. In this creative 3D art session, students discover the possibilities of sculptural design using clay, papier-mâché, and other materials. They learn fundamental clay techniques—pinch, coil, and slab construction—while also experimenting with papier-mâché to create imaginative forms on a larger scale with vibrant designs. Along the way, students explore surface decoration through carving, stamping, glazing, and painting, gaining an appreciation for texture, color, and detail. A playful introduction to the pottery wheel adds a unique, hands-on experience that encourages curiosity and joy. Through these projects, students strengthen hand skills, problem-solving abilities, and artistic confidence while exploring form, balance, and creative expression. Speech is ideal for students who prefer to work independently and want to develop their presentation skills, including organizing material with relevant and engaging information, as well as delivering it effectively. Students in our Speech program prepare, practice, and present prepared speeches, and they will also engage in Impromptu or Extemporaneous speaking. By the end of the program, students will have improved delivery skills, the ability to communicate ideas more clearly and effectively, and a quality speech to be proud of. Students are highly encouraged to sign up for a culminating experience in a Speech tournament near the end of the program (additional fee).
Students learn effective content and delivery, all while gaining self-confidence. We teach students step by step how to prepare speeches. Students incorporate supporting material into their speeches that keeps the audience interested and strengthens their speech argument. Students practice speaking with an emphasis on energetically connecting with their audience, including poise and eye contact. Throughout, each student works with other friendly participants who share the same interest in ideas and communication.

Build a passion for technology and the science of flight! Everyone wants to fly a drone, and this program is the perfect introduction. Students learn how to safely and accurately maneuver a drone through interactive steering, control, and racing challenges. Beyond simply flying the drone, students will learn about machine maintenance and important technological principles that they can apply in various settings. They’ll take their drones through trick flight shows, deliveries, and even rescue missions. By combining science and art, this course cultivates a strong STEAM foundation in students!

With support from the Seattle Kraken, Emerald City Floorball is making hockey available for everyone. Floorball is modern-day floor hockey without the ice, the skates, and the high cost. Coach Salvatore Ippolito, a three-time Pacific Northwest Ball Hockey Champion, brings 40-plus years of hockey experience to teach the students the game.

Kids’ Carpentry is a hands-on toy-building experience designed to teach practical woodworking skills emphasizing the safe use of hand tools. Students are invited to learn a skill they will use for a lifetime and a hobby they will forever enjoy--sewing! No experience is necessary for any student to learn the basics and beyond. New students will learn machine safety and beginner sewing techniques. This class is student-led, and they advance at their own pace with autonomy over the projects they create. Classes are designed to teach students with both beginning and advanced skills. Beginners will complete two prerequisite projects, while the more experienced students can expand on skills they already have. Projects will rotate each session to include new clothing, seasonal wearables, and our most popular designs. Projects consist of Pajama Pants, Fleece hats, Fox scarves, fingerless gloves, and much more! All supplies are included! (Sewing classes are offered during the Fall, Winter, and Spring after-school classes).

This year is Ms. Alina's eleventh year in offering this class at Eton School, and building strong and confident high-level dancers has been her passion for over sixteen years.

New Bach Music School is excited to offer a Piano Class designed especially for Grades 1-5. As a provider of classical music education, New Bach Music School brings after-school programs led by exceptional musicians and experienced educators with advanced degrees.

Considering how much of our lives revolve around using everyday goods and products, the design of these items (and the work that goes into it) is easy to overlook. Product design is one of the most useful skills to have in many different industries, and hands-on prototyping and 3D fabrication can be rewarding both as a hobby or a profession.
Students gain experience with professional 3D design software and printing technologies in this after-school class. Instructors help students understand how product designers approach common problems and identify what consumers need in their products. Technologies used in this class include Autodesk Fusion 360 CAD software and the Tinkercad online 3D modeling program.

Students develop a foundation for future programming and software development projects. They create this foundation by working on games built with visual scripting that they can be proud of and share with friends and family. Over the course of the program, students learn about data types, control statements, and logic, and use these skills to develop their own 2D games while learning about techniques used in the software and game development industries. These techniques include following a development process, iterating effectively, and integrating design, art, audio, and programming into a cohesive experience.
New and returning Open World students are welcome in this program. New students build a solid foundation in game development, and returning students are challenged.

AI Robo’s Robotics class lets students dive into the exciting world of robotics using LEGO-type materials. They learn to build robots using motors and brains to make them move. Students explore touch and IR sensors to create projects like line-followers and obstacle-avoiders and use button sensors for on/off functions as they progress. Beyond controlling robot movement, they are introduced to fundamental coding concepts like if/else statements and loops.

Students learn tactical chess ideas like pins, forks, and discoveries. Students work on puzzles, learn to checkmate the opponent in one or two moves and learn tactics. Students watch and learn from short master and grandmaster games, and there is a lot of chess-playing time, too!

Students learn a skill they can use for a lifetime and a hobby to enjoy sewing! No experience is necessary for any student to learn the basics and beyond. New students learn machine safety, beginner sewing techniques, and complete two prerequisite projects, while the more experienced students expand on their existing skills. This class is student-led, and they advance at their own pace with autonomy over the projects they create. Projects rotate each session and include seasonal tops and bottoms, bags and purses (from tiny to extra large), and accessories to keep them warm and looking fantastic!
All supplies are included!

Students in this class engage in building robots using motors and brains to bring their creations to life. They work with touch and IR sensors to develop projects like hand-followers and obstacle-avoiders, and learn to use button sensors for on/off controls. The curriculum introduces various coding concepts, including if/else statements and loops, expanding beyond basic robot movement. A key distinction for this level is the use of metal kits with nuts and bolts, offering a more advanced building and coding experience.

Amazing Athletes Sports Discovery is a dynamic, game-based program that engages school-age children in physical fitness through sports-specific training, interactive lessons, and team challenges. Students focus on two of six sports each season, developing skills in a non-competitive, fun environment.
For the Fall Season, the sports are Soccer and Flag Football. The program promotes teamwork, physical fitness, and personal growth, with activities tailored to each student’s ability. Students build strength, improve coordination, and learn about the 10 major muscle groups through partner-based exercises and fitness challenges. It’s a fun, active way to boost confidence, make friends, and foster a lifelong love of fitness!

LHC’s Machine Sewing class is designed specifically for students in 2nd grade and up! Whether students are new to machine sewing or have experience, this class caters to all skill levels. All students will have a full safety overview of essential machine safety protocols. Then, new students will complete our beginner sewing curriculum, while the more experienced students can build off their existing skills, taking their sewing abilities to the next level.
This class is student-led, and they advance at their own pace with autonomy over the projects they choose to create. Projects include backpacks, phone cases, clothing, accessories, bags, games, and stuffed animals, and they are swapped out every session! This class is our most popular and inclusive class where creativity knows no bounds!
