When world events creep into the lives of children, they may struggle with processing them. Our Lower Elementary students were trying to process the recent events between Ukraine and Russia. They watched a short video about the history between the two countries, followed by discussions in both Social Emotional Learning (SEL) with our School Counselor and class group time.
The students then wanted to find a meaningful way to show support for the people of Ukraine and the Ukrainian members of our community and chose to do so through art. They created the national flower of Ukraine, the sunflower, and displayed them to show support and hope.
