Whether it is defined as the absence of conflict or as the presence of serenity or quietness, the teaching of peace to children is fundamental to the development of a new generation better attuned to the concept of peace. Perhaps Maria Montessori put it best, “We cannot achieve world harmony simply by attempting to unite all these adult people who are so different, but we can achieve it if we begin with the child who is not born with national and racial prejudices.” (Quoted in Maria Montessori, Her Life and Work by E.M.
