Campus and Facilities

The Eton campus is on 2 1/2 acres of wooded grounds centrally located on the eastside of Lake Washington. The three building facility contains fifteen classrooms, an Activity Room, a Technology Room, library, Science Room and support areas for math and latin classes. An equipped playground with sport court and play field is used for recess and Physical Education.

The grounds of the main campus have a covered sport court and play field of artificial turf, as well as swings, slides and climbing equipment used for recess and by the Physical Education specialists.

In the fall of 1998, in celebration of our twentieth anniversary, a Nature Trail was installed in the southeast corner of our playground. Concrete bear print stepping stones meander through the trail, culminating at a seven foot tall concrete bear sculpture seated in a quiet spot within a circle of trees. The bear was commissioned for the occasion, by well known Ukranian artist, Peter Markovich.

In the spring of our twenty-fifth year, a timeline of Eton's history was painted by the lower and upper elementary students. Representing the "25 Years of Eton School", ten separate murals depicted events including the first Eton classroom in 1978, the move to the new campus in 1986, and the celebration surrounding the receipt of the U.S. Department of Education's Blue Ribbon School Award in 1991. Each student participated, some by creating a self portrait that fit into the mural's mileu. These are hung on the inside of the fence that surrounds the playground.

Activity Room

The Activity Room seats a large audience and is equipped with a stage, lights and an internal P.A. system. This facility was designed to house various all school assemblies. Our graduation ceremonies, Spelling Bees and classroom drama productions have also been put on here. Music and movement classes use the Activity Room throughout the week as do "rainy day" physical education lessons.

Library

The Eton School library maintains a collection of over 11,000 book/materials and digital resources available to students, staff, and parents. This collection contains a wide offering of picture books, chapter books, novels, nonfiction and reference material for all grade levels. It offers a section filled with Young Adult novels and materials exclusively for the sixth through eighth grade students and a professional and parent section filled with resources on parenting, education, and a variety of journals. All students learn information management and literature skills, and to check out and return books during their scheduled class time with the School Librarian. In addition, students have access to the library before school, during the school day when no class is scheduled, during lunch recess, and after school.

Physical Science Room

The Physical Science room is equipped with a greenhouse, microscope counter and numerous shelves of hands-on materials. Students meet for science weekly and bi-weekly with a Physical Science specialist.

Sports Field and Playground

The grounds of the main campus have a sport court and play field, with outdoor equipment used for recess and by the Physical Education specialists.
