If You Ask a Kid a Question
If you ask a kid a question, you might get a great idea for a science experiment...which will lead to some science fun...and that will lead a kid to ask another question.
The Lower Elementary science classes finished the year with science fair projects based on questions that they asked, which lead them to a Science Fair assembly where they presented their research.
Every step of the scientific method from asking questions through forming conclusions was an eye-opening experience. At the end of their experiments the children realized that they were left with a feeling of satisfaction, but also with more questions...which made them want to do more experiments. As one girl observed, "The scientific method is a cycle!"
Here are two good resources for summer science fun at home. Enjoy your child's questioning mind!
