Lower Elementary PE
The Lower PE program has three main goals.
The first goal is that all students perform vigorous exercise during PE class. These vigorous activities include; push-ups, sit-ups, leg lunges, leg squats, running, jumping and other aerobic activities.
The second goal is that students can learn to enjoy exercising and athletics. The students participate in personal, partner and group activities. They also play games in class such as tag so that everyone can have some fun during the day.
The third goal is that students learn to work as part of a group. This can include partner games such as catch or jump rope and can involve team games such as basketball and soccer. The goal is for students to learn to be flexible when working with others. When playing team games students must learn to play fairly with each other and to handle moments of adversity. This is an important part of social development.
